Upcoming Appearances: Noir at the Bar and the Science for Science Fiction Conference

I am so excited to have a number of Melbourne appearances in March and April. I’ll be speaking alongside some incredible Australian authors. Whether your interest is in crime or science fiction, there’s something for everyone.

NOIR AT THE BAR

Tuesday 28 March 2017. Grub Street Bookshop, 1/379 Brunswick St, Fitzroy

This is Australia’s first ever Noir at the Bar event with readings by Liam Jose, Andrew Nette, Leigh Redhead, Jock Serong and Emma Viskic (and myself).  I’ll be reading from my weird-noir novella Double Exposure. I promise to wear something fabulously pulpy.

SCIENCE FOR SCIENCE FICTION CONFERENCE

Sun 30 April 2017, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. The Royal Society of Victoria, 8 La Trobe Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000

This promises to be a great event for writers new and established, bringing together both scientists and science fiction writers. I’ll be presenting on Digital Storytelling and Alternative Publication, and I’m particularly interested in discussing avenues for publication that new writers may not have thought of, such as podcasts and games. Along with seminars on writing dystopias and taking your manuscript to the next level, there will be a chance for writers to pitch their work to publishers. This event is presented by the Royal Society of Victoria, in partnership with Aurealis Magazine and the Emerging Writers Festival. Can’t wait!
