A mythos murder mystery in the Villa of Hadrian…
When a comet soars over a party at the Villa of Hadrian in 141AD, Emperor Pius fears for his life. For comets signify a change of power and an end to the current Emperor’s rule. Despite an immediate security lockdown of the villa, the emperor’s food taster is found dead. The investigators must find the assassins and save the Emperor from the same fate—before the ominous herald rings true!
This scenario is designed as a murder mystery for three to six investigators, set in the expansive grounds of Hadrian’s villa. The stakes are high in this scenario. Succeed, and the investigators will be showered with the glory of Rome. Fail, and suffer the reprobation of Marcus Aurelius himself, and perhaps the fall of the Roman Empire. That is, if they’re still sane enough to understand the consequences.
This scenario can be played with the Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition Rulebook, with additional rules from the Cthulhu Invictus sourcebook. It takes approximately four to six hours to solve the mystery at Hadrian’s villa.
This adventure includes:
- A 28-page scenario full of vibrant – and villainous – characters;
- Play as a serious guard or a trident wielding gladiatrix with six pre-generated character sheets;
- Historical maps and handouts;
- An accessible text version in Word.
Warning
This game deals with mature themes including violence, dream control, and several snakes. Please discuss these themes with your players and amend the scenario accordingly.
